When you join On The Go as an independent travel agent, you will have everything you need to run a successful home-based travel business.

You must, however, live in Canada and hold valid documentation to join us. You also need a valid credit card to register and reliable internet access to use our agent website, management system and supplier booking platforms.

Learning to Run Your Business

Education comes first!

Our learning management system lets you take control of your travel-agent education. All OTG independent agents can access online classes from any device, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

When you first start, you will take courses in our destination series or agent orientation. These courses provide a roadmap for learning about the travel industry and how to operate your business.

Agent orientation covers the basics of becoming a travel agent, such as setting up your business, working with clients, compliance and simple marketing techniques. You will also learn more about the tools and resources available to you as an OTG independent agent, so you can study at a time and place that suits you. To develop your professional skills and travel knowledge further, you can use our in-person education events and one-to-one coaching program. If you find things difficult, you can always turn to our team for answers and encouragement.

Finding Prices and Booking Travel

Once you become an On The Go independent agent, your business will operate under the protection of the On The Go platform. Our team will promptly help you register with our preferred suppliers so you can access their travel-agent-only websites.

There is no extra charge to register with suppliers, although each supplier has its own process for researching and booking travel. Many allow you to book client travel directly through their websites. On The Go has established relationships with the most popular travel suppliers, giving you access to exclusive promotions, rewards and marketing materials. Whether you want to focus on cruises, romantic trips, family vacations or anything in between, we will provide the knowledge and connections you need to develop your sales.

Earning Commission

When you book travel for yourself or your clients, our travel suppliers pay commission based on travel sales. The exact rate may range from 3% to 20% of the travel sale. Whatever commission we receive, we pay you monthly according to the plan you join. Our financial system also lets you check your commission records wherever and whenever you need to, giving you a clear view of your business.

On The Go's long-standing relationships with our preferred travel suppliers allow us to obtain the highest commission payouts in the industry, and we pass those commissions on to you!

What You Can Earn as an Independent Travel Agent

When people explore working from home as independent travel agents, their first question is often, “Can I really make money doing this?” The answer is yes, but how much you earn is entirely up to you. Some of our agents do this part-time, planning travel for friends and family and earning a few hundred dollars from those trips.
